Hunting at Rosebud's Flatrock Ranch

The ranch is a family-owned and operated private ranch in the heart of Texas Hill Country near the historic Comfort, Texas. Lodging and meals are provided at the ranch. We have state of the art insulated hunting blinds to safely hunt native whitetail, axis, blackbuck, fallow, and sika. Hunting is available year-round, except for whitetail deer, which have a season from November to early January each year.  All our hunts are guided. Out-of-town hunters can fly to San Antonio.  If you are interested in harvesting one of our trophy animals, we will be happy to go over our prices and our hunting regulations. Come join us for a unique hunting experience for native and exotic game on a beautiful private Texas Hill Country Ranch.

Axis Deer

In 1988, free-ranging herds were established in 27 counties of central and southern Texas. At this time, it also occurs as a confined animal on ranches in 67 other counties. Axis deer are the most abundant exotic ungulate in Texas.
Sika Deer
Distribution in Texas. Formerly, sika were native from southern Siberia and the adjacent Japanese island of Hokkaido south, along both the mainland and islands, to southeastern China and Formosa. Sika have rapidly disappeared from much of their range due to habitat loss. Sika have been introduced in 77 counties of central and southern Texas, with free-ranging populations known from 12 of these counties. In 1988, the total statewide population was estimated to be 11,879.

Blackbuck Antelope
Distribution in Texas. Blackbuck antelope were originally released in Texas in the Edwards Plateau (Kerr County) in 1932. In 1988, only eight Texas counties had free-ranging blackbuck, but these antelope were confined on ranches in 86 counties. Of the total number of exotics confined on Texas ranches in 1988, only the axis deer outnumbered blackbuck antelope.
Fallow Deer
Distribution in Texas.
Native to the Mediterranean region of Europe and Asia Minor, fallow deer are the most widely kept of the world’s deer and have been introduced to all inhabited continents. This deer has been introduced to 93 Texas counties, primarily in the Edwards Plateau region. In 1988, the Texas population was estimated to be 14,163, both free-ranging and confined animals combined.
